Job Description

Summary of Responsibility:
Coordinates all aspects of the inpatient pre-admission screening and admissions process; also functions as an Admissions/Marketing liaison.
• Works under the direction of the Director of Admissions to facilitate and coordinate inpatient admissions with patient care departments, providing the highest quality of care.
• Contacts appropriate personnel within the facility to coordinate complex medical care and rehabilitative services.
• Communicates Admissions issues to Director of Admissions.
• As directed by the Director of Admissions, assists with updating and maintaining all admissions' policies, procedures, and operations to maximize compliance with all regulatory and accreditation bodies and to meet the demands of a continuously changing marketplace.
• Acts as a referral source of information for patients, families, potential funders, Case Managers and health care professionals regarding inquiries, referrals and applications for inpatient services.
• Assists the Director of Admissions with informational family tours to facilitate the decision making process whenever necessary.
• Maintains accurate records of patient referrals, acceptances, admissions, and denials to facilitate statistical analysis of information that will help in the development of new programs under the direction of the Director of Admissions.
• In conjunction with the Director of Admissions, directs the daily referral assignments to the nurse liaisons and oversees referral decisions, acting as a resource person as necessary.
• Negotiates non-contracted managed care per diem rates and case managed referrals in conjunction with the Director of Admissions and Fiscal Department as necessary.
• Markets the facility to families, health care professionals, physicians, and funding sources by introducing new services, clarifying present services, and explaining the admissions process as needed.
• Assists the Secretary in the Admissions process to interview patients, families, or representatives on admission as needed.
• Functions as Admissions Liaison for designated referring accounts.
• Participates in the Total Quality Management Program for the department.
• Functions as Admissions Director in his/her absence.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Current Massachusetts nursing license or other appropriate licensure/certification. Detail oriented; strong clinical background. Two to five years experience as Case Manager and/or intensive medical/surgical background and/or rehabilitation experience preferred. Knowledge of computer systems and marketing background preferred. Managed care knowledge preferred. Must be able to multitask.
