The Assistant Controller organizes and directs accounting activities by planning, directing, monitoring, and evaluating the activities of the general accounting staff. Coordinates financial reporting by establishing and maintaining systems for meeting month end, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements. Coordinates monthly accounting journal entries and analysis. Responsible for the day to day accounting for Steward Health Choice Utah including journal entries and analysis. Ensures all work papers are well documented including page referencing. Facilitates the audit external audit process by directing staff to complete data requests from external auditors, assisting auditors during site visits, assisting with preparation of audited financial documents, and monitoring financial statements between audits. Perform RBC projections and analysis - work cooperatively with the Financial Planning team to project out Utah year-end results to ensure the plan is properly capitalized and prepare quarterly RBC analysis. Budget process, ad hoc reporting, and other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree (BA) or equivalent obtained at a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Master's in Business Administration preferred
At least five (5) years general ledger accounting with at least two (2) years in the healthcare industry
At least one (1) year supervisory or management experience
GAAP principles and practices
Principles and practices of employee management and supervision
Spreadsheet, database, and accounting software applications including Microsoft Excel, PowerPivot, and preferably SQL
Effective time management skills
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Organization, prioritization and delegation
