POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Manager of Operations for Diagnostic Imaging, this position will be responsible for daily activities ensuring staff and patient care achieve clinical, financial, and organizational outcomes. Patient satisfaction, throughput, safety and quality are the responsibility of the Manager of Operations as well as the hiring, orientating, scheduling, and professional development of the staff. Shall facilitate collaborative and team partnerships within the interdisciplinary setting to include physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, technologists, administrative and support services. Works with leadership to evaluate, develop, initiate and promote process and system improvements.

Ability to provide support, coverage, training and mentoring in department for which credentialed. Credentials and competencies must be current and meet all the requirements of the relevant job description.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Radiology and within the established hospital as well as departmental policies and procedures and all applicable laws, the Manager of Operations performs the following functions to include but not limited to:

? Monitors the continuity of operational systems, procedures and service standards

? Performs duties in a cost-effective manner and with a high level of service
? Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operation of all modalities in Radiology. This includes providing direct supervision to assigned staff and overseeing daily operations to ensure that consistent quality patient care and services are provided
? Provides support as a technologist within his/her scope of practice as well as support staff when necessary
? Independently resolves problems and/or recommends solutions to departmental issues. Receives guidance when clarification, interpretation or exception to organizational policy is needed
? Ensures the successful delivery and continuity of imaging services. Takes action that ensure adequate coverage within the department
? Involved in the direct development and enforcement of departmental policies and procedures
? Maintains a constant state of readiness relative to the Joint Commission (JC) and other regulatory bodies
? Assists in the development of institution wide polices and the maintenance of records and controls for areas of responsibility
? Assures employees meet all orientation and competency standards as appropriate for position
? Conducts regularly scheduled departmental meetings
? Assists with development and justification of the annual budget and maintaining positive variances
? Assists in maintaining and reporting statistical data regarding service volume trends
? Oversees and authorizes payroll for Radiology (excluding Nuclear medicine)
? Assists the administrative director with the preparation of reports for all areas of responsibility
? Attends meetings and assists with projects within Radiology
? Complete on-going performance improvement for all operational activities within Radiology
? Propose mechanisms for cost reduction in salaries and wages, supplies and other major expense areas
? Evaluate new products and equipment for use within the department. Recommend purchases and justify as appropriate
? Understand the corporate goals and objectives and helps develop a departmental plan, in conjunction with the administrative director, complete with long and short-term goals
? Assures corporate and departmental fiscal, operational and quality information is effectively communicated to department staff
? Demonstrates the ability to perform multiple tasks as required
? Supports and facilitates the process of providing information to the medical director, administrative director and team members
? Allocates resources to sustain or achieve quality services
? Promotes leadership, teamwork and professionalism within the organization by action and example
? Develops interdisciplinary relationships that foster effective planning, teamwork, mutual respect, collaboration and integration of services with other departments and physicians for coordinated provision of services and support of patient care
? Participates in multi-disciplinary performance improvement projects and in department quality improvement programs
? Performs literature and web searches and analysis to assist with staff education and improve services
? Communicates effectively with the team though daily conversation, emails and communication boards within the department
? Corresponds with the administrative director on a near daily basis, providing updates on daily operations

Supervises:

? Supervises technologists, nurses, medical assistants and administrative support staff within Radiology. Nursing supervision will be limited to operational needs, and under the direction of nursing leadership for clinical scope of practice
? Collaborates and effectively communicates with peers, physicians, administrators, technologists, nurses and other health care professionals at all levels

Authority:

? Has the authority to supervise employees and the daily operations
? Has the authority to handle first-level employee relations, performance and disciplinary issues
? Has the authority to interview, hire, conduct performance evaluations and make recommendations in cooperation with the administrative director regarding serious disciplinary action and termination
? Has the authority to order supplies
? Has the authority to develop and implement staff schedules that meet the needs of the department within existing fiscal parameters
? Has the authority to resolve patient problems or complaints to meet patient and physician satisfaction goals. Participates in the development of systems and procedures to correct problems relating to system failures.

Reporting Requirements:

? Reports problems, issues and patient/physician concerns to medical director and/or administrative director
? Reports any unusual occurrences related to patients, staff, equipment or other departmental related questions/concerns directly to the medical director and/or administrative director
? Reports serious incidents and/or breaches in quality of care or regulatory compliance to medical director and/or administrative director
? Reports immediately to medical director and/or administrative director any deviation from normal operations

Accountability:

? Accountable for maintaining the confidentiality and security of all hospital related, medical staff related and patient related data and protected health information (PHI). Accesses only the minimum necessary PHI for the performance of job duties. Follows HIPPA privacy guidelines without deviation when handling PHI.
? Accountable for fiscal performance in areas of responsibility
? Accountable for quality of imaging and associated documentation in areas of responsibility
? Accountable for identifying staff development needs in cooperation with lead staff
? Accountable for providing a safe working environment for all hospital staff

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

? Fiscal skills sufficient to analyze and present information regarding budget performance including staff patterns
? Sufficient computer skills to perform duties
? Well versed in medical terminology
? Critical thinking and the ability to effectively manage emergent situations
? Ability to work independently and take initiative in completing tasks
? Demonstrates superior customer service skills
? Ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks
? Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:

Education:
? Graduate of an accredited program in field of designation. Bachelor of Science required.

Experience:
? Three to five years supervisory experience in a hospital radiology or cardiology department.

Certification:
? One or more of the following: RT (registered technologist), CVT (certified vascular technologist), RCIS (registered, cardiovascular invasive specialist), ARDMS (American registry for diagnostic medical sonography), BSN (bachelor of science in nursing).
? Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
? Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) based on department for which credentialed
