Job Description:
Recognized leadership and education position. Emphasis on the provision and supervision of direct patient care through overseeing the care and services provided by professional and ancillary staff. Plays a key role in the development, maintenance and update of education of all the nursing staff of each unit of surgical services . Provides clinical support and serves as advisor, mentor and resource for director, nurse managers, clinical leaders and staff to maintain competencies and improve skills of three campuses: Methuen, Haverhill and Andover

Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current nursing registration in Massachusetts, BSN required, MSN Preferred with previous experience in education position. CNOR certification required. BLS certification, BLS Instructor preferred. ACLS, PALS preferred. Additional certifications may be preferred based on specialty area of nursing practice. Demonstrated clinical competence in overseeing surgical services as the position requires to cover all areas of Preadmission testing, Surgical Day Care, Operating Rooms, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Endoscopy, Sterile Processing.

The Candidate demonstrates great verbal and written communication skills using appropriate media (e.g. e-mail, phone calls, in person, etc.) with any group of customers (internal and external). Proficient with common software (e.g. Microsoft Office).

Personally accountable, reliable and self motivated, s(he)acts as a role model, coach and mentor to the staff to develop their talents. Agrees to be flexible with hours to meet timely educational needs.

Readily adapts to change and welcomes new approaches when circumstances demand it. Demonstrates ability to make timely and appropriate decisions in the face of conflicting demands and interests. Willingness to provide exceptional patient care.
Identifies and get involved in process improvement with appropriate education/inservice programs in consideration of financial budget.

Physical Requirements:
Exerts negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; at least 20 pounds of force frequently. Ability to move heavy patients with assistance will be required. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands). Occasionally stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist), and kneels (bending the legs at the knee to come to rest on knee or knees). It should be understood therefore, that employees may be asked to perform job-related duties beyond those explicitly described above
