Nursing Supervisor, Part-Time, Nights
This is a 32 hour per week position.
On behalf of the Nurse Manager, the Nursing Supervisor extends provision of continuity of nursing services in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality nursing care to patients and families. The Nursing Supervisor in collaboration with the Nurse Manager coordinates the allocation of resources; acts as a clinical resource for staff; supports the nursing division by participating in performance reviews, initiating and contributing to quality improvement initiatives and standard development. The Nursing Supervisor is the on-site senior administrative person for the hospital during non-business hours.
Week One is 1 - 12 hour shift 7:00 pm - 7:30 am and 2 - 8 hour shifts 11:00 pm - 7:30 am
Week Two is 3 - 8 hour shifts 11:00 pm - 7:30 am and 1 - 12 hour shift 7:00 pm - 7:30 am
evening/ night. 11:00pm to 7:30am. And 7:00pm to 7:30am. 36 /28 =32. 8 hours during week 12 hours every other weekend and holiday.
Reports to Nurse Manager for Nursing Administration.
- ò Licensed to practice as a Registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Experience demonstrating professional competency, leadership characteristics and supervisory skills.
- BSN preferred.
- BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- ACLS desired, or obtain within one year of hire if not currently certified.
- Involves other departments in project planning and implementation.

Patient Care Management
- Participates in the planning and implementation of nursing policies and procedures. Interprets policies and procedures to nursing personnel and support services.
- Rounds on the clinical units to assess patient/family issues, level of acuity, staff/physician concerns.
- Provides clinical consultation to nursing staff or directs them to the appropriate resource.
- Responds to all patient care emergencies.
- Assists with communication and interpretation of charges in nursing practice activities and standards of care.
- Identifies self learning needs and updates clinical knowledge and skills through formal and informal education and review of current literature.
- Ensures that infection control guidelines relating to patients personnel, equipment and environment are followed.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager to evaluate the quality of nursing entries in the patient record and ensure conformity with documentation standards.
- In collaboration with the Nurse Managers maintains fiscal responsibility in the allocation of resources including both staff and materials.
- In collaboration with Admitting directs bed utilization.
- In collaboration with the support services assures that the systems in place to support patient care are functioning effectively and efficiently.
- Investigates unusual occurrences, takes administrative action as defined by policy and communicates appropriately to Nursing and Hospital Administration.
- Responds to patient complaints; documents intervention and outcomes; and utilizes internal department structure for follow up with patient complaint.
- Participates in the evaluation of staff as requested by the Nurse Manager.
- Participates in quality and process improvement activities to improve patient care and/or related systems.
