Please be advised that this position is temporary and based on the current operational needs of the Steward Health Care/Good Samaritan Medical Center. Therefore, the duration of this position is subject to the discretion of Steward Health Care/Good Samaritan Medical Center based on such operational needs.

Administers physical agents utilized in the short and long term rehabilitation of in and out patients (orthopedic, neurological, pulmonary, cardiac, medical and surgical) under the supervision of a PT within the guidelines set forth in a physician's order.


Monitors effectiveness and safety of treatment and reports back to PT if any changes need to be made.

Instructs patients, families/others in treatment goals and home programs.

Discusses or clarifies order with referring physician or primary therapist.

Discusses problems with other staff members for input and ideas.

Maintains documentation of patients reaction to treatment and changes made in response to treatment effectiveness and safety.

Initiates conversation/interaction with other health care providers for optimal determination and provision of therapy.

Integrates contraindications and precautions into appropriate treatment.

Maintains records pertinent to patient treatment.

Maintains timely and complete documentation of all aspects of patient care.

Documentation reflects patient response to treatment. Progress towards goals is reflected at least weekly.
Flow sheet documentation reflects quality of patient performance.

Assures appropriate insurance authorization has been obtained prior to treatment.

Appropriately utilizes departmental and hospital approved forms.

Maintains current physician orders.

Completes discharge of medical record in a timely and accurate manner.

Acts as a resource to entry level staff regarding complex cases new/advanced techniques.

Provides input into the supervision of students.

Provides direct supervision of students.

Demonstrates the ability to teach techniques in a clear, concise manner.

In-services staff upon return from conferences or seminars.

Initiates ways to assist or support other staff members with department related tasks.

Interacts with peers in a kind and professional manner.

Consistently demonstrates an approachable style of interaction.

When requested, assists other staff members with department related tasks.


* - Associates degree.

* - Current MA PT Assistant license and CPR certification.

* - 1-3 years previous experience.

* - Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* - Microsoft/Meditech preferred.
