Position Summary:

Compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs in a healthcare facility environment. Also responsible for transferring prescriptions, handling incoming physician calls, logging data into the computer, and Drug Utilization Review. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager. Requires a bachelors degree and/or an advanced degree in pharmacy and is licensed to practice. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating pharmaceutical care. The Pharmacist also assumes the responsibility for the delegation of pharmaceutical care to other members of the Pharmacy team. Provides professional knowledge and skills in the pharmacy to assure that the patients receive ultimate quality and safety in drug therapy.

The pharmacist may be responsible for the purchase of pharmacy inventory to include narcotics and other necessary drugs, equipment, and items to insure availability. When there is an established formulary, the pharmacist is required to adhere to that formulary or follow the established procedure for exceptions.

  • Minimum: 0-1
  • Preferred: 2-4

Licensure/Certification/Education (Required):

  • Current/Active Florida Pharmacist License (PS)
  • Education 4: Bachelor's Degree
