Job Description

Position Summary:
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating pharmaceutical care. The Pharmacist also assumes the responsibility for the delegation of pharmaceutical care to other members of the Pharmacy team. Provides professional knowledge and skills in the pharmacy to assure that the patients receive ultimate quality and safety in drug therapy.

The pharmacist may be responsible for the purchase of pharmacy inventory to include narcotics and other necessary drugs, equipment, and items to insure availability. When there is an established formulary, the pharmacist is required to adhere to that formulary or follow the established procedure for exceptions.
Conducts drug utilization review studies. Consults with medical practitioners on prescription orders, patient reactions, and errors. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. May require a doctorate in pharmacy or medicine. Must be a registered pharmacist. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
