POSITION SUMMARY:

The registered staff pharmacist shall use his or her knowledge of therapeutics, nutrition, toxicology, pharmacokinetics and drug information to positively affect the outcomes of care given to our pediatric through geriatric aged patients while at Florida Medical Center. The registered staff pharmacist shall carry out the daily tasks and responsibilities of medication order interpretation, drug therapy review, drug dispensing and assisting in the dissemination of drug information to our patients and members of Florida Medical Center’s healthcare team.

The registered staff pharmacist shall be able to carry out all clinical and operational activities of the pharmacy in conjunction with other services and/or departments, working within the overall policies set forth by the governing body of Florida Medical Center

Specifically, the registered staff pharmacist shall function in such a way as to improve patient outcomes. Excellent communication skills for pharmacist/nurse, pharmacist/patient and pharmacist/physician interaction are essential.

The registered staff pharmacist shall comply with all directives set forth by TJC, DPR, HRS, ASHP, DEA, Florida Legislation and Federal Legislation thus following all recognized guidelines for the proper care of patients while at Florida Medical Center; insure that all departmental, clinical and operational policies and procedures are in compliance with the above regulatory and/or governmental agencies.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.

Additional Information

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

  • Current Florida Licensure in Pharmacy
  • Minimum of B.S. in pharmacy and/or Pharm D
  • Minimum of one (1) year hospital experience preferred
