Job Description
Position Summary: The Operating Room RN provides care that addresses the specific needs of age groups from infant to elderly, and is also individualized to a variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, non-English speaking, and potential victims of abuse. The Operating Room RN incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, our mission, vision and values into nursing practice at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations.
Key Reponsibilities: The registered nurse assumes full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care she/he provides to individuals and groups. Included in such responsibility are health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort or for the dignified death of those they serve. The registered nurse, within the parameters of his/her generic and continuing education experience, may delegate nursing activities to other registered nurses and/or health care personnel, provided that the delegating registered nurse shall bear full and ultimate responsibility for the patient outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned.
Shift: Per Diem
Required Knowledge & Skills: • Able to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language. • Able to complete mathematical computations required to perform treatment protocols. • Excellent assessment skills, clinical skills and organizational skills. • Computer knowledge and charge capabilities. • Able to lift, transfer and move patients. • Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of this position.
Education: Baccalaureate degree in nursing or related field preferred. Graduate of an approved School of Nursing. Experience: Requires 2 to 3 years operating room experience. Must be experienced in the circulating role.
Certification/Licensure: Currently licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.CNOR certification preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. In addition to BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Software/Hardware: : Meditech 6.0
Other: Successful completion of Standard Med test. Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, teamwork and teaching capabilities. Scheduled hours and days are varied and
