Surgical Tech, Surgery & Recovery Combined -Open Heart, Full Time, Flex Shift

Position Summary:
Provides direct patient care to all adult cardiac surgical patients. Addresses the psycho-social, physical and spiritual needs of the patient. Ongoing communication with physicians and other Open Heart team members. Assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment and inventory. Participates in performance improvement activities. Assesses operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met. Maintains autoclave logs. Precept surgical technologists joining the team. Positions and assists patient during procedure.

Position Qualification: (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):
• Graduate of an accredited surgical tech program.
• At least 2 years peri-operative experience preferred.
• At least 2 years cardiovascular open-heart experience preferred.
• Holds current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association) • Surgical Tech Certification required.

Required Licenses/Certifications:
• Holds current BLS card from the American Red Cross
• Surgical Tech Certification required.

Communication Skills:
• Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with all levels of the organization
