The Surgical Technologist (ST) provides patients with quality care during the surgical experience. The ST is a member of the interdisciplinary team along with the RN, Surgeon, and Anesthesia Staff. The ST directly works with the Surgeon to provide instrumentation, supplies and equipment for the surgical procedure. The ST has an understanding of the procedure being preformed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon, has knowledge of Joint Commission standards, and has knowledge of sterile processing of equipment in case of emergent needs.
High School Diploma/GED required. Graduate of an accredited program for Surgical Technology strongly preferred. Certification from the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Preferred.
One year of experience as a surgical technologist in an ambulatory or hospital-based surgical setting preferred. Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards under the supervision of an RN. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
